Print or Save Any Open Window or Computer Screen With Hardcopy

162821980_442c2c53db

For some reason, I wanted to get the prints of some opened windows in my computer. The normal routine to get open window's print is a Print Screen (PrtSc) function. It is very lengthy task. It is like first PrtSc, paste, cropping, save, etc. You also have to play with layers if you do not want background or foreground in your print and bla bla bla.

I Googled my problem and come across a very nice piece of software Hardcopy. Its working and functions are surprisingly perfect along with it is available in a free version (I am talking about other paid versions). For personal use, free version is quite perfect. It let you print any opened window or computerscreen in your computer. You have physical or virtual printer, Hardcopy can print. You want the print of active window, it will do or you want the whole desktop print, it will do.

I suppose that you have installed Hardcopy and is active in system tray. There are many ways to get prints.

1: If you press PrtSc button on keyboard, the current screen contents (whatever is) will be in Hardcopy window and you will be asked to print it.

2: After installation, you will see a Print button (green) near the minimize button of active window. This button hides when window is inactive. Press this button and you will get print of the active window. The green button .

3: Hold Alt button down and press PrtSc button, the active window will be printed.

4: If you do a left mouse click on tray icon of Hardcopy, the active window will be printed.

Keep in mind, any window or screen which printed will also be shown in Hardcopy program window. This gives you advantage to play with that window by applying different provided functions. You can use it on Windoows 98, ME, NT, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista and Seven (7).

You may use it for:

• Documentation of errors

• Documentation of programs

• Documentation for the revision / commercial requirements

• If SAP® is used the revision will be pleased in particular about the additional

SAP® – information!

(This is in particular important with tests of new SAP®-releases or with new

projects like introduction of the Euro, ...)

• Printout in programs, which don’t contain any print functions

• Printout of all visible information, even if this is not provided in that program

• Archive: saving in files or in a data base

• The same functions are available with a scanner.

There are many other functions but I can not write all. You should also explore it. I tested it on Windows 7 Ultimate and it is working fine. NEVER MISS ANOTHER PRINT. Open the following URL into your browser to access the home page of Hardcopy (copy n paste URL).

http://www.gen.hardcopy.de/

There are four different versions available. Below is a comparison chart taken from Hardcopy site:

10 Things You Must Do With Your New Windows 7 PC

If you got a new Windows 7 laptop for Christmas, you are truly in luck. But here are 10 things you need to get the most out of it.

    1. Take a Spin Around the New Interface: Still glassy, glossy and damn near glittery, the Windows 7 interface is actually a major progression for Microsoft: It's not just easy to use, it's a whole new paradigm with the revamped taskbar and Aero Peek making multitasking with multiple windows more natural than ever.

    2. Turn Off Everything You Don't Need: While Windows 7 is missing some odd things, like a mail application, the flip side is that you can turn off pretty much every major feature you don't want. Internet Exploder 8? Gone. Windows Media Player? Poof. And if you're used to tweaking the crap out of Windows, you still can—a lot of the old tricks, like for manipulating context menus, still work.

    3. Move All Your Crap from Your Old Machine: Windows 7 actually has pretty decent built-in powers for moving all your crap from your old and busted PC to your new pride and joy, though you need to download Windows Easy Transfer separately onto XP if you're pulling stuff from that.

    4. Master All of the New Keyboard Shortcuts: Why deal with flipping around a mouse or scribbling on a trackpad when you do the same thing in a tenth of a second with a keyboard combo? The Start key (oh sorry, Windows key), which I've always neglected as a useless monotasker, is supremely useful in Windows 7, as the underpinning for a metric ton of keyboard shortcuts.

    5. Get It to Play Nice With All of Your Gadgets: The good news about Windows 7 is that, unlike Vista, most of your gear that worked with your computer a couple years ago with Windows should still work. And newer gear interacts with Windows in a fancy new way with a big ol' splash graphic and easy access to all the stuff you'd wanna do with it. While even simple things, like adding a second monitor, are more straightforward now, here's a device-by-device breakdown on getting everything to touch Windows 7 appropriately.

    6. Share Stuff With Your Other Computers, 'Cause It's Easier Now: The networking UI hasn't just gotten a facelift to make it more accessible, it's actually easier to use with HomeGroups—join a HomeGroup, and all of the stuff you want to share with other computers spreads like herpes to the rest of the HomeGroup, no arduous networking required. Also, network in general—like with Macs—seems to just work better with Windows 7.

    7. Stream Your Music and Videos Everywhere: Connecting your PC to a TV sounds so 1999. Well, you might not know this, but your Windows 7 PC is a badass music and video streamer, DVR, photo viewer, video aggregator and everything else you'd want out of a multimedia box, all thanks to Windows Media Center. The living room PC is legit now. Not to mention Play To, which beams music (and video and photos) to any compatible device on your network, no setup required (really!). All it takes it a right-click, and those Sonos speakers on the other side of your house will magically start yelling the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

    8. Upgrade Your Netbook to Windows 7 Home Premium: If you got a Windows 7 netbook, there's a good chance you got stuck with the artificially gimped out Starter edition, which sucks. The cheapest way to fix this is to buy Windows 7 for $30 using a valid .edu email address, then follow our guide to installing Windows 7 on any netbook.

    9. Set Up Some Network Storage: A fresh computer is a fresh start—meaning it's a perfect time to start a new life with fully networked storage for backup, especially if you're using your machine as a DVR with Windows Media Center. (But skip on faster drives.) One awesome option? A Windows Home Server machine, which can do backups and stream out media to all of your computers.

    10. Remote Control It From Anywhere with VNC: While diving deep into the system and futzing with your network at the same time, you might as well set up a VNC server so you can control your computer from anywhere, whether it's to pull files or schedule downloads.

That's it from us. Share your own tips and tricks in the comments, and Merry Christmas!

How To Export Documents from Google Docs to Your Computer

Google Docs offers a great service that allows you to access and edit documents from anywhere there is a web connection. Sometimes you might need to grab all of those documents and bring them to another machine. Here we take a look at exporting Google documents to your computer the easy way.

    Export Google Documents

Log into your Google account and go to the list of your Google docs. Now you can select the documents you want to export or select them all.

After selecting the documents you want click on More actions and then Export.

Now select how you want each of the document types converted when downloaded. You can choose different formats like MS Office, Open Office, PDF and others. Check the box next to Export all your files (up to 2 GB) if you want to export all of them. Yep, up to 2GB worth of files … if you have a lot of work in Google Docs like projects and collaborations, it’s nice to be able to export such a large amount.

A progress screen is shown while the files are being zipped and getting ready for download. If you have a large amount of documents and don’t want to wait, there’s an option to Email when ready and you’ll get a download link emailed when they’re ready so you can work on other things.

The documents are zipped up and ready to be downloaded.

Download them to a location on your computer, external drive, or network location.

There you go! All of the documents you selected to export from Google Docs are ready to be used in the application format you specified.

    Conclusion

This is a great option if you need to get all of your documents off of Google Docs for some reason. The fact they allow up to 2GB worth of documents at a time is very cool. I guess I don’t know if I’ve ever had 2GB worth of documents before for anything, but if your collaborating on school and work projects you may find that much necessary. You also might want to export your documents off Google servers occasionally for backup…incase Google Docs is down or you’re away from an Internet connection and need to work on them.

Download ChristmasTheme for XP From microsoft

If you are looking for a way to customize your XP machine for the holidays, you might want to install the oldie but goodie ChristmasTheme 2004 from Microsoft. Here we take a look at what you can expect when installing it on your XP computer.

    ChristmasTheme 2004

After successful installation, the Display Properties window opens under the Theme tab and you need to click on Apply and Ok to start using it.

You’ll see it adds a neat looking snowy background with Santa Claus in his sled. It also changes the pointer and a few other icons like My Computer. Also when you boot up, it plays a Christmas jingle instead of the standard logon sound.

    2x

Another cool feature is a neat 3D screensaver that shows Santa flying around and delivery presents.

You can change the theme back later by going into Display Properties under the Themes tab and selecting a different one.

Of course there are other Christmas and holiday themes you can download from customization sites, but this one is the official one offered by Microsoft. It gets the job done if you want to display the theme for a few days over the holiday season on your XP machine.

IS GOOGLE OPEN DNS IS FASTER THAN YOUR ISP

    gos-logo

DNS is the switchboard of the internet: Type in a text URL like www.mikkimax.blogspot.com, and it finds the numeric IP address to get you there. Google, which seems to be releasing something in just about every consumer-facing software category, has now entered this behind-the-scenes networking space with its new Google Public DNS. I set up a couple of PCs using Google Public DNS, both inside and outside our corporate network, to see if it offered any real advantages over a more traditional DNS system. The results were mixed, although Google DNS did offer some benefits that neither your default DNS server nor major free competitor OpenDNS does.

Google launched its own DNS servers

Recently, Google launched its own DNS servers which aims to provide faster and safer browsing. Here is a tiny tool which allows newbie to switch to Google DNS in 1 click.

Google DNS Helper is a small utility coded in .NET using C#. It backs up your current DNS server address and then changes it to Google’s DNS. You can restore to your old DNS server anytime you want.

Google Experimenting With Browser Login For Chrome OS

Google has made a change to Chrome OS to move the user login from the machine to the browser. Our guess is Google is, or will eventually use, Google Friend Connect to facilitate login.

The feature was first mentioned on October 13: “Using Chrome as our login manager has a number of potential benefits.
Explore these tradeoffs and decide what to do about the login manager.”
The code was checked in on December 14: “An early version of this change is finally in. It’s not ready for daily use yet, and we haven’t gotten the network picker on there or anything yet, but at least we’ve got a baseline in there. I’m filing issues for the follow-on work.”

There are lots of potential benefits to having users log into machines via the browser. In particular it makes syncing easier and furthers the notion that you can log into any Chrome OS machine and have exactly the same experience as you would on any other machine. The fact that users can’t download any software to Chrome OS computers furthers this experience.

But it’s also clearly interesting from an identity standpoint. Facebook and Twitter are both making strong plays as the defacto online identity for hundreds of millions of Internet users. Facebook Connect in particular is becoming a very popular way for third party sites to easily add identity and login features to apps

But people using Chrome OS devices will be logging into the Internet first and foremost with a Google account, or via Friend Connect (which currently allows signin via Google, Twitter, Yahoo, AIM, Netlog, OpenID, etc.). By centralizing authentication once, Google can then use the same Friend Connect credentials to automatically login to sites that support it.

If Chrome OS becomes popular, it will be a very powerful weapon for Google to compete with Facebook Connect.

HOW TO STOP STARTUP PROGRAMS IN XP

Here is how to use MSCONFIG in Windows XP to disable some of the unnecessary programs that automatically load on start-up. Disabling these programs will help your computer boot faster and crash less. [For step-by-step instructions on how to use MSCONFIG in other versions of Windows
    1. In Windows XP, go to Start > Run
    start_run_xp
    2. Type MSCONFIG in the "Open:" box and then either press enter on your keyboard or click on the OK button.
    msconfig_open_xp
    3. This launches Microsoft's System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab (the tab at the far right).
    msconfig_xp
    4. This takes you to a page with a list of "startup items." Startup items are programs that are automatically loaded every time you turn on your computer. Some startup programs are absolutely necessary, others are simply a waste of RAM.
In Windows XP, all of Windows' essential programs are loaded through something called "Windows Services." This means that most of the startup items you see in XP are completely optional and can be turned off. However, a good rule of thumb is to disable only those programs that you recognize and don't need to have running all the time. When in doubt, leave it on. Or, better still, check out Paul "PacMan" Collins' huge "Startup Applications" list at http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php. This list of over 13,000 startup items you may encounter in MSCONFIG tells you which items are absolutely necessary, which items are optional, and which items you should definitely uncheck.
Here's a good example. On my computer I have a mess of MP3s and I listen to those MP3s with a program called WinAmp. For some reason or other, WinAmp decided that it should always be running on my computer even when I am not using the program. That's silly. To prevent WinAmp from automatically starting every time I boot my computer, I ran MSCONFIG and unchecked "WinampAgent." That's it.
Remember, disable only those programs that you recognize and don't need to have running all the time. When in doubt, leave it on.
    5. Click on the OK button.

    6. A message will pop up telling you that you must restart your computer before these changes will take effect. Click on "Yes" and your computer will automatically reboot.

    restart_box_xp
    7. That's it! Your computer should now boot faster and crash less.
And if you ever want to turn on any of the startup items you disabled with MSCONFIG, just run MSCONFIG again.

    Virus Scanning with Hitman Pro

It's common knowledge that a system is best to have only one antivirus onboard...well, sort of, because there ARE some antivirus pairings that work well together, for example, Kaspersky with Microsoft Security Essentials. Problem is, sometimes malware still get pass your system undetected, even when you have two antivirus installed on your PC. You can always upload suspected files up to online scanning service such as VirusTotal.com, but then what if you don't know which file to suspect? Surely you can't upload everything one by one?

Hitman Pro, a cloud-based virus scanning software developed by SurfRight, has the closest answer to the problem above. Unlike Panda Cloud Antivirus or Immunet Protect, which are both independent cloud antivirus, Hitman Pro utilizes FIVE scanning engines as their in-the-cloud detection, where users can immediately scan their PC directly from the desktop. Like all cloud scanning technology, Hitman Pro is designed to be portable, light on system resources, requires minimum interaction and improved scanning time. Hitman Pro also works alongside any existing antivirus software without compatibility issues. The free version of Hitman Pro allows users to scan their PC for infection (with a free 30-day period removal), while the paid version allows users to scan for and remove infections from their PC.
The five scanning engines are publicly revealed as G DATA, Avira, ESET NOD32, Prevx CSI & A-Squared Antimalware, although one can argue that with this lineup, Hitman Pro is essentially utilizing 7 scanning engines, since GDATA uses the Bitdefender and Avast scanning engines, while A-Squared uses its own scanning engine together with Ikarus scanning engine. According to inside sources, Hitman Pro carefully chooses their scanning engines based on their distinctive advantages. G DATA and Avira is chosen for their proven high and accurate detection rate, while NOD32 is chosen for its famous ThreatSense heuristic scanning engine. Prevx is chosen for its HIPS detection and rootkit detection while A-Squared is chosen for its antispyware and common malware detection.

Hitman Pro scans fast and reliably, identifying the main key areas for scan based on collective intelligence from its five scanning engines. On its scan result page, it displays the amount of files scanned and the total time taken for scanning the files. It is also more configurable than Panda Cloud Antivirus, A-Squared MalAware and Immunet Protect in some areas, notably the option to scan the PC during every computer bootup.

The limitations of Hitman Pro, however, is that is is meant to be a scanning and removal tool instead of a monitoring tool. Therefore, it is recommended that users still have a real-time antivirus running on their desktop. If users decide to rely on Hitman Pro for detection, then they must frequently scan their PC for infections. Since the free version does not provide removal, Hitman Pro is also not a really good free virus scanner for novice users who does not have sufficient knowledge in manually removing malwares.
All in all, Hitman Pro is the best portable cloud virus scanner available for both novice and advanced users.
Hitman Pro is currently a v3.5 final release (Build 80), available in both 32-bit and 64-bit. Windows XP, Vista, 7 and all Server OS (2003 & 2008) are supported.
