HOW TO ENABLE SUBTITLE IN WINDOW MEDIA PLAYER 12

Subtitles are the Text overlaying on the Video in a known language which lets you understand Multilingual Movies. The Default Media Player- Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7 doesn’t offer native support for Subtitles captions on Video. Here’s a fix to enable subtitles on WMP 12 by adding filters.

DirectVobSub is WMP codec or an addon which directly integrates with Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center [ WMC ] or any other DirectShow player such as Media Player Classic, Zoom Player and etc.

DirectVobSub supports that almost all of the popular subtitle formats:

  • VobSub (.sub, .idx)
  • SubStation Alpha or Advanced SubStation Alpha (.ssa, .ass)
  • SubRip (.srt)
  • MicroDVD and SubViewer (.sub)
  • SAMI (.smi)
  • PowerDivX (.psb)
  • Universal Subtitle Format (.usf)
  • Structured Subtitle Format (.ssf)
How to turn on, Enable and show Subtitles on WMP12

Download DirectVobSub or VS Filter and install it. To see the Subtitle captions on video, you need to have Media file and Subtitles in same directory. Note that the names of files should be exactly same to load subtitles. For example:

  • Blogsolute-video.mp4 ( media filename )
  • Blogsolute-video.srt (Subtitle filename )

Open this media file in Windows media player and you will start seeing Subtitles overlaying Video playback.

Download DirectVobSub
